- The controller and (more importantly) controller code can have a
- MAJOR effect on performance, even if the same datapump (including all the
- needed chips and code) are identicle. The DAA (part that connects the
- datapump to the phone line) can also have a fairly major effect on the
- performance. In fact, just about everything in the modem can affect the
- performance of it, even something as simple as the layout of the PCB.
- That being said, to answer the original question, the Motorola Power and
- LifeStyle mdoems use exactly the same hardware except for the FlashROM,
- and use exactly the same DSP and controller code except for the extra
- features of the Power (eg Distinctive Ring, remote configuration, etc.),
- so they're performance should be identicle.
